Despite the technology and hype around Web 2.0, this book is written in simple, practical, layman’s terms instead of business buzz words and technology jargon. I provide specific “how-tos” that the average person can use right now. Examples abound:
About the Author
I'm Frank Shines, a former athlete, Air Force officer and IBM principal. Over the past 20 years I have trained and competed with Olympic athletes, flown military jets and traveled all over the world providing business and technology consulting services to such companies as Johnson & Johnson, Exxon-Mobil, Abbott Labs, Siemens, Newport News Shipbuilding and many others. But I remain humble and grateful. Things have not always been so easy for me and my family.
I grew up in poverty on the streets of Oakland, California (USA) where I saw more tragedy as a child than many people experience in a lifetime. But despite such a rocky start, I somehow broke through with the aid of an art teacher, a Latino family, a former WWII marine and some great coaches. In The New Science of Success, I draw upon all of these experiences and provide you real life, personal stories and examples that bring the ideas to life and make them memorable.
In the book, I not only provide you with very specific "how-tos" like the examples shown in the column to the left, but I also give you a formula for success: Success = f {PAR + KASH}. P is for Purpose. A is for Actions, and R is for Results. Embedded within Actions are Knowledge, Attitude, Skills and Habits (KASH). In my experience, I have found that the most successful people in all walks of life (athletes, artists, techies, business people, parents, etc.) consistenly apply this formula to attain and sustain success -- whether they are aware of it or not.
